REFINISHED HEIRLOOM DRESSER : REIMAGINING ANTIQUE

The decision on whether to buy new or repair what you already have becomes easier when you are speaking about family heirloom wood furniture. This beautiful dresser was originally built by the customer’s late father, and over the years it has been refurbished in a way that does not do the piece justice, painted in an unfortunate colour, and was broken in many places from generations of use.  It was our privilege and a joy to restore it back to its original character, and to have it be...

DEVELOPING A COZY FIREPLACE IN THE LIVING ROOM

This project was completed just in time for the customer to host friends and family in their new construction home over the holidays.  To add the fireplace feature in the living room we built the required enclosure and tiled it with Airstone. The mantel was then cut from a local cherry slab and stained in red oak with a satin finish. As a bonus we were able to repurpose the offcuts into some additional matching shelves for the room. It is always nice to meet newcomers to the...

CNC SIGN CUTTING

The CNC router table that we use for our cabinetry gave us the opportunity to collaborate with a local sign artist in creating the elements for a new Belleville business’s signage. Not only are CNC routers a must have for the cabinetry building process, but they are also quite fun to use. It is like having a robot employee in the shop who can cut materials into complicated patterns and shapes perfectly, perform incredibly detailed engraving, and resurface a variety of materials to perfectly flat.  Your imagination...

CONCEALED COFFEE STATION AND PANTRY, ENTERTAINMENT CONSOLE

For a home in Tweed we built a very contemporary set of built-ins and a large entertainment console for the home theatre system in the living room. The pantry and coffee bar were built into previously unusable space which we reclaimed in the passageway between the kitchen and the living room. We clad the doors in ebony-stained oak tiles which were installed with the grain of the tiles set in a purposefully random manner. We created concealed handles, used push-to-open latches and continued the oak tile treatment along the...

WORKING ON A MICROSCALE: LANDSCAPE MAKING, POWERED TABLE WITH SIDE EXPANSION, AND 3D PRINTER STATION

This customer is involved in the unique craft of miniature landscape making and this furniture set was designed to accommodate their work space while also doubling as a dining table when necessary. The table’s requirements were very specific: it needed to be powered for all the tiny street lamps, motorized roadways and other electrical items in the landscapes which the artist creates; it needed expansion leaves to flip up on the sides when additional surface area is required; it needed to be on wheels so it can be...

FAMILY ROOM HOSTING STATION

In addition to homeowners and business owners we also work with contractors in providing the millwork for their projects. If you are a contractor we invite you to get in touch with us so we can deliver the cabinetry you need, built exactly to your specifications and ready to install. This bank of cabinets is built to house a sink, fridge, cupboards and drawers for everything the homeowner requires to host in their family room. It needed to match the existing cabinetry they have, and their contractor brought...
